The following is the order in which the Corps composing the 3rd Battalion stand in the order of merit for the 1st period on musketry practice for the year ending 30th November, 1863:—

It will be seen by the foregoing tables that the 12th Hants has attained the proud position of standing first in the order of merit in the battalion. The sergeants of this corps are therefore entitled to wear a supplementary badge of crossed muskets and crown, worked in gold on the right arm, vide     ‟Regulations for Musketry Instruction, part V., paragraph 2.” We heartily congratulate the corps on its success; its numerical strength is also satisfactory as it stands first for the capitation grant.

ERRATA.—In the report of the Volunteers’ Ball last week, we inadvertently committed an error—the band was furnished by Mr. Bishop of Chichester, and not by Mr. Conduit, of Winchester. For ‟Ensign Mumby” read ‟Ensign Minty.” In return of rifle shooting, the average of points of the 12th Hants was misprinted 16.14,  instead of 16.41
