PETERSFIELD.
12TH HANTS RIFLES.—CLASS FIRING.—The following capital score was made by Sergeant W. Caplin, on Tuesday last at the rifle range, at Helmington-bottom, viz.:—
| 150 | 200 | 250 | 300 | Total | ||||
| 33443 | 17 | 34443 | 18 | 44342 | 17 | 44442 | 18 | 70 |
Being 12 bullseyes, six centres, and two outers.
It is worthy of notice that the above excellent score was made by a new long Enfield Rifle issued by the National Rifle Association to compete for the Queen’s prize at Wimbledon, and being the first time of using. And we may add, that in the last year’s class-firing at the same ranges, Sergeant Caplin made the fine score of 69 points. The next two best scores made were by Private Wynne 64 points, and Private H. Caplin 62 points. The two competitors from the corps as representatives for the Queen’ prize, at Wimbledon, are Sergeant Glasse, of Horndean, and Sergeant Caplin, of Petersfield.
