Surrey Advertiser — Saturday 13 May 1865

CRICKET.—The opening match for the season took place on the Heath on Monday, between the 12th Hants Volunteers, and the Cricket Club. The ground was in capital condition, and the weather beautifully fine, which brought out a goodly number of lookers-on, and the match terminated as was expected at the outset, in favour of the Club. At six o’clock the players and friends, numbering 40, adjourned to the Dolphin Hotel, and sat down to an excellent dinner provided by Mr. Crafts, when one of the happiest social meetings was spent since the establishment of the club.
