HANTS COUNTY SESSIONS

     These sessions commenced on Monday, at the Grand Jury Chamber Winchester, Viscount Eversley in the chair. There was a large attendance of magistrates.

     The trials of prisoners commenced on Tuesday morning, Mr. Melville Portal presiding in the Crown Court, and Sir J. Simeon, Bart., M.P., in the second court. The cases were disposed of as follows:—

     Mary Hawkins, for stealing from the person of Jesse Newman, £1 2s., and a purse, his property, at Petersfield, on the 31st August—no bill.

     William Bicknell, stealing a quantity of wood, value 1s. 6d., the property of Her Majesty, at Liss, on the 13th July—no bill.
