PETERSFIELD.

LECTURE AT THE BRITISH SCHOOLS.—On Tuesday evening a lecture was given by Mr. G. J. Fairbairn, the principal master of the above schools, on the ‟Natural History of Creation.” Illustrated with 17 large diagrams. The lecture was of a highly interesting and instructive character, and from the manner of its arrangement and delivery the lecturer evidenced his perfect familiarity with the subject which he had chosen for the evening. This being the second of a series of lectures to be delivered, and from the large attendance thus far secured, augur well the interest taken in them by the public. At the close of the meeting a vote of thanks was unanimously tendered to the lecturer, and also to some of the pupils of the British School for the very excellent manner in which they sung several pieces and rounds. The third lecture it is expected will be delivered on the 5th Feb.
