ATTACK ON A CONSTABLE. — On Wednesday evening last (market day) P.C. Kinnesson was called on by Mr. W. Mells, of the Golden Horse Inn, in the Square, to remove a man named James Mason, who was making a disturbance. When put outside he was requested to go home, but instead of doing so he kicked P.C. Kinnesson in a savage manner on the left knee, which caused him suddenly to fall, knocking out one of his front teeth and splintering off a piece of another. Mason was taken before J. Bonham Carter, Esq., M.P., and is now remanded to the petty sessions on Tuesday, the police-constable being unable to attend from the serious injuries he received. It is said Mason was previously convicted of an assault upon P.C. Holmes, at Rogate.
