WINCHESTER.

     CHURCH BUILDING SOCIETY—At a full meeting of the Building Committee of the Hampshire Church Building Society, held in the Cathedral Chapter Room, on Monday, the following grants were made, viz.: —£100 towards building a new church in the parish of Sheet, near Petersfield; £40 (conditionally) towards building a new church in the hamlet of Headley, parish of Kingsclere; £45 towards the enlargement and restoration of the very interesting old brick and timber church of Mattingley, near Winchfield; £20 towards the enlargement and repair of Amport Church; £20 towards the enlargement of St. Mark’s, Woolston; and £45 towards the liquidation of the debt on Stockbridge Church, just consecrated, making a total of £270. In addition to these sums, grants of £300 to Whitchurch (being the renewal of a former lapsed grant), £100 to West Cowes, and £60 to a new church at Ramsdell, in the parish of Wootton St. Lawrence, proposed the latter end of last year, were confirmed.
