CORONERS’ DISTRICTS.—In Hampshire there are three County Coroners elected by the freeholders—namely, Mr. Todd, of Winchester; Mr. Hoskins, of Gosport; and Mr. Clarke, of Whitchurch; besides one for the Isle of Wight, and three for the ancient hundreds, which constitute the present Ringwood division. Mr. Todd’s jurisdiction extends over the Alton, Droxford, Winchester, Southampton, New Forest, and Romsey divisions, and his salary has been fixed at 240l.Mr. Hoskins has no more than the Fareham and Petersfield divisions, with a salary of 130l.; and Mr. Clarke those of Basingstoke, Andover, Kingsclere, and Odiham, also 130l. Mr. Blake, as Coroner for the Isle of Wight, receives 80l.; Mr. Davy, as Coroner for the hundred of Christchurch, 20l.; and for that of Fordingbridge 5l.; and Mr. Johns, as Coroner for the hundred of Ringwood, also 5l.
