PETERSFIELD.

     ENTERTAINMENT AT THE WORKING MEN’S READING ROOM.—The members of the above gave their first reading on Tuesday evening last, in the National School Room, when a great number of the members and their friends were present. The chair was taken by the Rev. H. Haigh, who said in the opening that it was an entertainment given exclusively by the working member’s of the room without the assistance of the honorary members, as they had hitherto done. The singing was remarkably good, especially the song of Mr. Caplen. Mr. Pocock drew roars of laughter by his comic song, ”The Ticking Trio,” which received the encore it deserved.—Mr. Killie’s reading, ‟In Jeopardy,‟ was received with great applause.
