FALLING OF THE FLOORS OF A MALTHOUSE. — "Accidents never come alone," says the adage of old, and was truely verified in the present instance. On Tuesday night last, about 11 o'clock, the floors of the malthouse belonging to Mr. Crafts, in the Dragon-street, fell to the ground floor below, containing a quantity of malt and barley. Fortunately no one at the time was on the premises, or the consequences might have been fearful to contemplate. The cause of the accident appears to have been from the beams resting in the walls having withdrawn from their bearings. The old building was burnt down (as reported in these columns at the time) on the 27th March last, the fire being discovered between four and five o'clock in the morning, when in a short time the same, containing about 200 quarters of malt and eight quarters of barley in the cistern, was consumed, with the exception of a small quantity seriously damaged. Fortunately the property was insured, and the new malthouse erected in the summer, and which was again in operation for malting at the time the above stated accident occurred.
