HANTS ADJOURNED QUARTER SESSIONS.

     An adjourned meeting of the Court of Quarter Sessions for the county of Hants was held at Winchester, on Saturday last.

     The CHAIRMAN (Viscount Eversley) next moved—‟That a committee be appointed for every petty sessional division, consisting of the magistrates acting for that division, and certain rated occupiers. In the case of divisions which are not subdivided, the number of occupiers not to exceed five; in the case of those which are sub-divided, not to exceed three for each sub-division.”

For the Petersfield Petty Sessional Division.—Mr. Wm. Chalcraft, Bramshott; Mr. George Edward Coryton, Liss; Mr. William Nicholson, Liphook; Mr. Samuel William Seward, Weston; Mr. Edward Shenton, Buriton.

     Another resolution, to the following effect, was also carried:—

     ‟That it be an instruction to each divisional committee. 

  1. —To carry out the provisions contained in sections, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 of the Cattle Diseases Prevention Act, 1866; and also the recommendations for disinfection made by the Cattle Plague Commissioners.
  2. —To cause notices from time to time to be fixed on church doors, stating the days on which they will decide on the amount of compensation to be paid for slaughtered animals.
  3. —To determine, as soon as may be, such amount by such evidence as they may think fit.
  4. —To send to the Clerk of the Peace, one week previously to each sessions, the orders on the county treasurer for such compensation, signed by two magistrates acting on behalf of such divisional committee, and countersigned by the clerk to the committee for sanction.
  5. —To certify once in each quarter and forward to the Clerk of the Peace an account of all expenses incurred by them in carrying the said Act into effect.”

     It was also agreed that all appointments of inspectors heretofore be revoked. That the chief constable be appointed chief inspector for the county; and that all superintendents and sergeants of the county police be inspectors, together with the following veterinary inspectors:—
