PETERSFIELD.
RIDING ON A RAILWAY WITHOUT A TICKET.—JOHN GEORGE YOUNG was brought up at the Magistrates’ Clerk’s Office, on Wednesday, before the Hon. J. J. Carnegie and J. Waddington, Esqrs., charged with riding on the London and Portsmouth direct railway, on Monday last, from Petersfield to Liss, without previously having obtained a ticket and paid his fare. The case was proved by Mr. Way, the station master at Liss, and others, and was fined with costs, 9s. 3½d. Not being prepared to pay, he was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour.
