PORTSMOUTH.

     TRAVELLING WITHOUT A RAILWAY TICKET.—A confectioner, named John Jones, was charged at Thursday’s Police Court, with having travelled from Liss to Portsmouth, having only a ticket from Liss to Petersfield, with intent to defraud the London and South-Western Railway Company.— Mr. A. W. White, superintendent at the Landport Station, attended on behalf of the railway company. The case having been proved, the defendant was fined 17s., or in default 10 days’ hard labour.—The money was not paid and he was accordingly committed.
