LIPHOOK.

The final rehearsal of the Liphook Choral Sociely this season was held in the Village Hall on Tuesday evening, when there was a full muster of members. This Society has been practising all the winter with a view to competing at the Petersfield Festival, which took place this week. It won the test medal last year, and in consequence was promoted to compete in the B division. Miss Tristram, until her illness, acted as conductor, and Miss Peake, who has been accompanist throughout the session, also had entire leadership of the class during the temporary absence of a conductor. That post was subsequently filled by Miss Maclean, who conducted at Petersfield. At the close of the rehearsal on Tuesday, a presentation was made of a solid silver bijou inkstand, suitably engraved, by Miss Maclean, on behalf of the class, to Miss Peake, for her most valuable services. Votes of thanks were accorded to Miss Maclean and to the treasurer and secretary, Mrs. Dryden. We understand the Choral Sceiety intend to give a concert in the Village Hall on Wednesday, May 1.
