MIDHURST

COUNTY COURT, WEDNESDAY, OCT. 12—Before H. FURNER, Esq., Judge.

PRICE OF STEAM THRASHING.—In ‟Seward v. C. Aylwin,” a claim of £1 1s. 3d., for work done by a steam thrashing machine. Mr. Soames, of Petersfield, appeared on behalf of the plaintiff, who resides at Harting. Defendant had paid £8 9s. 3d. into court, and amount sued for was balance. The dispute was simply as to charge per quarter plaintiff stating his charge was 2s., and defendant’s plea being that he bargained with Mr. Seward’s man for 1s. 6d. This, however, proved to be false, as the man himself was present, and swore that no arrangement was made as to price; he had nothing at all to do with that, his master always seeing to it.—Order for immediate payment, costs were also applied for and allowed.
