PETERSFIELD.

On Thursday last an accident of a serious nature happened to Mr. Adams, auctioneer and surveyor of this town, on his way home from Stedham, where he had been shooting. It appears that as he was coming home in his gig his horse bolted and passed through the village of Rogate, at a fearful pace, and in turning a corner on the way out the wheel struck the wall and threw him out with great violence. The unfortunate gentleman was taken up and carried to the house of Mr. Wm. Thorpe, where every attention was given, when he was placed in a fly, from Mr. Chapman’s, of the White Horse, and conveyed home to his residence. R.S. Cross, Esq., surgeon, was in attendance, and he was found to have sustained a fracture of his collar bone and two ribs, and also much cut about the face. We are pleased to add that under the able care of the above named gentleman the unfortunate sufferer is progressing favourably.

PETERSFIELD.

ACCIDENT.—We regret to have to notice a serious accident which occurred on Thursday last to W. Adams, Esq., of this town. He was leaving the residence of J. W. Whitelock, Esq., of Fyning House, on his way home, when immediately on starting the horse bolted, galloped through the village of Rogate, and eventually overturned the chaise. Mr. Adams was pitched out with such violence as to break his collar bone and two of his ribs. We are glad to learn that he is progressing very favourably. The horse sustained no injury beyond a slight cut. It will be seen by an advertisement elsewhere that Mr. Adams is compelled, in consequence of the accident, to postpone the sale of underwood which he is announced to conduct, until the 26th, when we hope he will be sufficiently restored to resume his professional duties.
