PETERSFIELD.

THE NATIONAL SCHOOLS ANNUAL TREAT. —The annual treat to the school children took place on Thursday, when at two o’clock they assembled in the school-room, and proceeded to the parish church, where an excellent sermon was preached by the Rev. J. M. Sumner, who took his text from the 21st chapter of Mathew and 16th verse . The service being over the scholars returned to the lawn, where, to the number of more than 200 boys and girls, exclusive of their parents and others, partook of a bountiful supply of tea, plum cake, &c., under the well-arranged supervision of the Revs. J. M. Sumner, H. Haigh, and J. Coles, assisted by friends. After tea the whole party proceeded to Mr. Baker’s Meadow, as usual, where matches of cricket, football, racing, and a variety of games and amusements were entered into till the shades of evening brought the happy meeting to a close, when the whole departed highly gratified to their respective homes.
