PETERSFIELD.]—PENNY READINGS.—On Tuesday evening, a second series of penny readings was given in the Petersfield National School, on which occasion about 130 persons were present; the chair was taken by H. Atkinson, Esq. The following gentlemen took part in the readings :—the Rev. R. C. Cole, Mr. Blanchard, Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Harris, and Mr. Duplock, each gentleman acquitting himself much to the satisfaction of the respectable audience. A few admirable songs were g:ven during the evening by several competent gentlemen who were present, bringing the meeting to a close about 9.15. Thursday evenings, we hear are devoted at the British School by several young men meeting together discussing different interesting subjects.
