PETERSFIELD.
COUNTY BENCH.—TUESDAY.—Before the Hon. J. J. Carnegie, Sir J. Jervoise, Bart., M.P., Sir W.W. Knighton, Bart., J. Waddington, Esq., and Major Briggs.
— Timothy White v. John Payne.—This case, which was an application for a warrant of ejectment from a tenement at Liss, and has been repeatedly before the bench, was settled by arrangement, defendant consenting to leave in a month.
— Henry Farmaner was convicted of trespassing in search of rabbits at Liss on Sunday, August 26th, and was fined 10s. and 9s. 6d. costs, which he paid.
— Mr. George Henty, of Chichester, as owner of the George Inn, Petersfield, was summoned by Mr. Durman, inspector of nuisances under the recent Act to answer for the non-abatement of a nuisance existing on those premises.—Mr. Smith, the manager of Messrs. Henty’s brewery at Petersfield, said that owing to the notice, having been sent by letter to Mr. Henty, at Chichester instead of being left at the Brewery, and as that gentleman was from home at the time, there had been a delay which would not otherwise have occurred, but if the bench would allow the case to stand over for a fortnight he would undertake to see the nuisance abated forthwith. The case was accordingly adjourned. (See also 27-Sep-1866)
— Mr. Maxwell was summoned for a similar offence, having reference to a nuisance on certain premises belonging to him situate in the Spain, Petersfield. This case was also adjourned for a fortnight, with the understanding that defendant would forthwith abate the nuisance.

— William Langrish, charged with unlawfully laving two rabbits in his possession, was fined 30s. and 9s. 6d. costs.
— Henry Knight was convicted of trespassing in search of rabbits on land belonging to Mr. Thomas Waller, in the parish of Steep, on Friday, the 31st ult., and was fined 6d. and 9s. 6d. costs.
_ Peter Lumley, charged with allowing his horse to stray on the highway in the parish of Privett on Monday, the 3rd inst., was fined 2s. 6d. and 5s. costs.
