     COUNTY BENCH, Tuesday.—Before the Hon. J. J. Carnegie (chairman) and J. Waddington, Esq.

   Henry Johnson, a tramp, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing two pairs of stockings, an apron, and a pocket handkerchief, value 3s. 6d, the property of James Ayling, of Privett, and he was sentenced to one month’s hard labour.

   George Shepherd, a farm labourer, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing two hurdles, the property of Mr. Charles Clark, of Lovedean, on Saturday, and he was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment with hard labour.
