COUNTY BENCH,—Tuesday.—Before the Hon. J. J. Carnegie, and J. Waddington, Esq.
The only case before the bench was a charge of bringing a cow into the market without a proper licence, which was disposed of by the infliction of a nominal fine and the costs.—We are happy to say this is the last of these cases we shall have to record, as by a recent order in council the issue of licences for the removal of cattle is totally abolished, and all restrictions are withdrawn, so that any person may now remove an kind of stock with the same freedom as before the outbreak of the Cattle plague.

GRATIFYING NEWS.—OPENING OF THE MARKET.—it is pleasing to note that an Order in Council has been received, removing the late restrictions against all admission of cattle to the market, so that now the owners are free to bring stock into the market without the difficulty and annoyance as heretofore, attendant upon obtaining licenses, as well as the purchasers; also being relieved in obtaining passes for the removal of the same. This cannot but be hailed with satisfaction in this district at last, where no case of cattle plague has occurred.
