POOR LAW AUDIT DISTRICT.—We understand that it is not intended to fill the vacancy of Poor Law Auditor caused by the death of the late Mr. J. C. Clarke, and that the Poor Law Board have added the unions comprising his late district to the Hampshire and Wiltshire Audit district, of which Mr. W. J. Patterson, of Southampton, is the auditor. This district now comprises the greater part of Hampshire and portions of Dorsetshire and Wiltshire, and becomes the largest and one of the most important of the Poor-Law Audit Districts. The undermentioned unions are those which have been recently annexed to the district:—Isle of Wight, Portsea, Fareham, Havant, Petersfield, Droxford, and Catherington.
