PETERSFIELD.
PROFESSIONAL THEATRICALS AND AMATEUR MINSTRELS.—On Thursday evening last Mr. Tom Rogers and Company gave their farewell dramatic performance in the Corn Exchange (being their fourth in the town), to a large attendance, entitled “The Hunter of the Alps,” with their usual ability; after which (by way of a benefit), our young but clever amateur Ethiopian Minstrels gave their entertainment (being their second in the town), with highly creditable success, and which it is needless to add was well received and appreciated. The whole concluded with “The musical farce of Mischief Making,” where the principal and essential character of the piece—the mischief making, gossiping washer-woman, was well rendered by Mrs. Wade Clinton, whose characteristic and truthful effect—terminating the needly performances of both black and white throughout the entertainment with complete success and satisfaction to about 300 in attendance.
