AN EXPECTED VISIT FROM
‟PUFFING BILLY.”
It was rumoured on the 1st inst. that a railway engine would be seen in Midhurst on that day, and many persons went out to have a first look at it, bur they were, it appears, not to be gratified, as none of the contractor’s men knew anything about its coming, and, after waiting a little while, and finding that ‟Billy” did not intend coming, they returned to their houses. It is said, however, that it will not be many days before he makes an appearance, and will be seen puffing along the line between Midhurst and Petersfield, as it is, to all appearance, nearly finished, the permanent rails being laid down, we believe, throughout the whole extent of the line.
