PETERSFIELD.]—RIFLE PRACTICE.—A party of the 12th Hants Rifles met a few days since, in Helmington Bottom, for practice with the long Enfield rack rifle, Hythe position, Wimbledon targets, under the direction of Sergeant-Major Allen, who has recently returned from the school of musketry at Hythe, where he obtained a certificate of merit as a qualified instructor. The firing on the above occasion consisted of 30 rounds, viz. 15 at 200 yards, 10 at 500 yards, and 5 at 600 yards range. The match was for a sweepstake, and was won by Armourer-Sergeant Caplin, who made the following score:—
