LISS.—CRICKET.—A single wicket match, which created much local interest and speculation, commenced on Liss Green on Monday, the 5th instant, between Mr. E. Bridger, and Mr. E. Dennis (two of the eleven), when upon one innings each being played, Bridger was at the head score by seven runs. On Tuesday afternoon the second innings was commenced by Dennis taking the willow, when he obtained 17 runs, and brought out his bat for the day. Thursday afternoon the match was resumed, and Dennis added 14 to the score, when his timbers were scattered, and the shades of evening coming on, it was further adjourned to Saturday, on which day Bridger resumed his bat for the last innings, and obtained 10 runs, which closed the play for the evening. Monday last brought the players upon the ground for the last time, when Bridger came to the scratch with confidence, but the glorious uncertainty of cricket was in this instance clear, for, after a few balls, with one run, his wicket fell, and Dennis was declared the victor by 13 runs.
