THE LATE REV. N. PADWICK.—On Friday last, through the liberality of Miss Kitching, and a few other friends, a beautiful marble tablet was placed in St. Thomas Church, Milnthorpe, on which is the following inscription.
"In Memory of the Rev. Nicholas Padwick, M.A., who died at Petersfield, Hants, Nov. 30th, 1860, aged 66 years. He was the first incumbent of this church, where he laboured 23 years. This tablet was erected by his parishoners and friends, who valued his ministry, esteemed his memory, and mourn his loss, and in grateful rememberance of his zeal in abolishing the Sunday hiring (of reapers during harvest time), at Milnthorpe."
