TERCENTENARY OF SHAKESPEARE.—In commemoration of the event W. C. Rickman, Esq., of Lithanger, Empshot, kindly consented to give a reading from Shakespeare in our National School-room on Tuesday evening last. The play selected was the ‟Merchant of Venice,” which was read with admirable effect, and was listened to with deep interest by a numerous audience. At the close the hearty thanks of the company were presented to Mr. Rickman, on the motion of the Rev. J. M. Sumner.
