PETERSFIELD, MONDAY
This morning Mr. William Nicholson, of Basing Park, an Independent Liberal, was proposed by Mr. J. Bonham-Carter, M.P., and seconded by Mr. Henry Elkington, as a fit and proper person to represent this borough in parliament in the room of Sir W. Jolliffe, elevated to the peerage.
There being no other candidate, the hon. gentleman was declared duly elected.
